Boot Options By Joshua Blagden

There are some different boot options on the mac. Here are a few:

 Safe Mode:  Activated by pressing Shift while the Mac is booting up * 

Booting From Another Hard Drive or Disk: Press Option while the Mac is booting up. This one is also useful if you're going to install another version of OS X on your Mac, which you might do to be able to use older programs(i.e. Appleworks) which won’t work in Mac OS X Lion. 

*One thing to be aware of is if you’re using a PC graphics card, you’ll need to have the monitor connected via VGA when you need the boot screen.
